HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION &
RAPID REHOUSING FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES

TWO-DAY “HOW TO” TRAINING IN
PROGRAM DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION

Co-sponsored by The National Center on Housing & Child Welfare
(Washington, DC) & The Hamilton Family Center (San Francisco, CA)

May 26-27, 2010
Los Angeles, California
Wilshire Grand Hotel

LEARN FROM THE EXPERTS WHO HAVE
BEEN DOING PREVENTION & HOUSING FIRST
FOR NEARLY TWO DECADES

ABOUT THE TRAINING:
The Institute is not a conference, but an in-depth, skills-based series of interactive workshops to help develop new homelessness prevention or Housing First programs, or strengthen existing ones. The training will consist of general plenary sessions and smaller, targeted workshops involving facilitated discussion and interaction. The workshops will complement one another, providing step-by-step strategies to improve existing, or implement new, prevention or rehousing programs. Sessions will provide examples of promising or “best” practices as well as practical, field-tested tools for screening and assessment, landlord recruitment, program planning, performance measurement, and inter-agency collaboration.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
For agencies administering or operating HPRP programs (Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Rehousing), and those implementing other types of prevention or rehousing programs, the Institute is an opportunity to learn strategies and practices that can be adopted or adapted to improve program performance. For other stakeholders, including funders, system and program planners, and direct service providers, new funding opportunities and forthcoming federal policy changes (HEARTH Act) make this an essential training to learn the “nuts and bolts” of designing, funding, and implementing prevention and/or rehousing programs.

ABOUT THE SPONSORS:
Beyond Shelter pioneered Housing First/Rapid Rehousing for homeless families in Los Angeles, CA in 1988. Hamilton Family Center operates a highly successful Housing First/Rapid Rehousing program for families in San Francisco, CA. The Washington, DC-based National Center for Housing and Child Welfare (NCHCW) links housing resources and knowledge to child welfare agencies and works nationally to promote systemic change.

Registration Deadline: May 17, 2010
